Bail is an amount set by the court in order for a defendant to be released from jail with the agreement that the defendant will return to all court proceedings on that particular charge(s).

The Bail Bond is simply the bail money posted by a bail bond company to the court to secure a defendant’s release from jail with the assurance that the defendant will appear for all court dates.

The defendant and/or cosigner secures a loan with collateral. (cash, vehicle or real property i.e. a home)

The fee to secure this bail bond in Colorado can be as low as $50 or as high as 15% of the amount of the bail set by the court. The bail bondsman then provides the court with the guarantee that full amount will be paid to the court if the defendant disappears.
